As many of you know we had some scary times this July. Here's a picture of Jesse in the hospital. I thank Heavenly father every day that Jesse is still with us. I don't know what I'd do without him. Currently, he is doing really well with his recovery. He says he feels good but not back to 100% yet. We're glad he is doing as well as he is.
We want to thank our families and friends who helped us during this difficult time. You were truly angels to us in our time of need. We wouldn't have made it without all your kind service to us!
Luckily, because Jesse is doing so well, we have been able to have lots of fun this summer too.
We took a fun trip to Yellowstone with the Anderson side of our family. We saw tons of wildlife, scenic views and wild flowers, it was amazing! It was really good to hang out with my family. We don't get to be all together very often, and it was nice to have everyone there (if only for one day). Jesse's dad gave my family a treat by bringing his boat up and taking us on several trips down the river. It was a really great camping trip, and I am glad to report that we never saw any bears! :)

We also went to the demolition derby. Russton thought this was a really fun night. He loved seeing the truck and cars. Jesse's brother, Jason, got to drive one of the tow trucks that picks up the cars after they get all smashed. All of Russton's cousins got a turn riding in the tow truck. We love redneck events, don't you?

We also went to the state fair. Russton got to pretend he was a farmer and tried doing lots of farm chores. He wasn't sure if it was fun or not. But, he LOVED the animals! He got to pet lots of goats, sheep, cows and pigs. He even perfected his ability to make a pig noise! We went on only one ride: The Big Yellow Slide. It was a very tall, very fun slide. Russton seemed to enjoy it (not that I could see his face while he was on my lap and we were racing down the gigantic hill), well... at least he didn't cry. :) My sisters and I tried some deep fried food, but I was a little disappointed in it. My deep fried Snickers bar was not very tasty. Yuck! I guess the deep fried Twinkies are the way to go (I'll have to try it next year).

We also participated in the annual Howe Family Olympics. This year was bigger and better than last year. We had 12 events : High Jump, Long Jump, Discus, Javelin, Shot Put, Puzzle Profusion, Horseshoes, Wiggle Cars, Ladder Golf, Trick Diving, Cannonball and an Obstacle Course. It was so much fun! I even won the bronze medal in the Cannonball competition, can you believe it?! And Jesse won a gold medal in the Discus by throwing it over 50 feet!! Which is pretty amazing considering it was just a paper plate. We love hanging out with our family, and we can't wait for next year!
Here's a few more random pictures from this summer that I wanted to share.

To sum it all up this has been a summer "we shan't easily forget."

Tons of fun. We went to the State Fair two years ago and did the exact same things as you did. We rode the big yellow slide, had a fried snickers (and thought "yuck"). Too funny. What a fun idea for the family olympics. You're so creative. It also looks like Russton is potty training!!! Yeah!!! Hope it went well.
Actually, he's not potty training just yet, ha ha. He saw those Elmo underpants at the store one day and wouldn't let go of them! I just had to try them on him as soon as we got home. But, they were soaked by the time I got that picture taken. I guess that proved he's not quite ready yet. :)
so glad to hear about your summer. Definitely glad that Jesse is doing better, and I can stop wondering what has happened to you.
I was wondering what happened when you didnt post for FOREVER! Your little boy has gotten so big. Glad that your husband is doing better. I am off to NM the end of the month to see Kera and a few other bilaganas! Some Dine as well!
I like your collages!
